I grew up in rural Saskatchewan, always enjoying "doing hair". More often than not my dolls and barbies had "hairdo's", and any time I could, I styled friends and family, and taught friends how to do french braids and other styles.  I took my pre-employment training in Cosmetology at SIAST Woodland Campus and when finished, I worked and took pre-employment training in Esthetics.  When I completed my training, in 2004, I moved to Saskatoon, where I worked in a salon for someone else.  In July 2006, I completed my Journeyperson exam, receiving my red seal.  In early 2007, I was head hunted I suppose you could say to move to a small out of the way Esthetics studio on Richardson Road, that wanted to add hair services to it's menu, Saskatoon Essentials.

It was here that I got my start working for myself, renting my space from Saskatoon Essentials.  In 2010, when the owner decided to move her business home, I decided to purchase the business, and work completely for myself.  It was here that I asked my friend and fellow business owner Bailey if she wanted to share my space and bills with her business Drop Dead Gorgeous Day Spa.  This way we could offer a full service experience to our clients, and we've never looked back.  In (year?) Bailey's sister Sara came on board with her.  2 renos, much heartache(Covid shutdown) and life events later, I wouldnt change a thing!  I love going to work everyday, everyday is soemthing different, I have the best clients around!

I live with my husband Ron, and our dog Charlie, a black lab/great dane cross(She's a big happy girl).  We bought our house(on Richardson Road) in 2016, and were married (during Covid) in September 2020.   We're often doing "small renos" at our house to update and freshen our "old home".  I LOVE cars and trucks, and tattoos(I wish I had the time and money for more), and trying to garden in my somewhat crappy yard, its and ongoing process.

I grew up in Saskatoon with my parents and 3 siblings. In high school I was adamant that I would not go into the beauty field as many of my class mates were planning on pursuing that career.  Yet in 2003 a friend of mine who did my nails asked me if I wanted to be in her first class. Initially I said no, but she convinced me to try it.  I fell in love the moment I held that brush.

I asked my sister Sara if I could teach her to do nails so that I wouldn’t have to do I own, and quickly realized that she was a natural. It was a natural move to start my own business as I grew up in an entrepreneurial home.  My parents own Praxis International, an entrepreneurship training school.

After starting Drop Dead Gorgeous Day Spa in a single room downtown Saskatoon doing gel nails, I was approached by my friend Crystal Hill in 2010 who bought Saskatoon Essential and asked if I wanted to move out of Downtown and join forces, I quickly jumped at the opportunity. As we found our new groove I found out I was pregnant and had my first son in Feb 2012, in Sept that same year we began our first of 2 renovations, expanding from 700sq/ft to 2700sq/ft. We made the office child friendly as I brought my son Tristyn in with me every day.

When Sara moved back from Montreal I begged her to come and work for me, completing our team.

I live with my partner Chris and our 2 boys, Tristyn and Bodhi our dog Chiko and care for my grandmother Meta.

I started this journey in 2006 when Bailey begged to teach me how to do her gel nails so that she didn’t have to do her own (it can be a real pain.) At the time, it was a casual, creative outlet (and a good excuse to spend time with my sister.) A few years later, I was given the opportunity to work a few months in the new salon space that Bailey had just moved into with Crystal, to experience working on more than just my family. Before I would jump into the industry with both feet, though, I needed to spend a few years sowing my wild oats while living in Montreal with my best girlfriends. As much as I loved the big city (and still do) being an aunty was more important to me, so I made the trip back to Saskatoon in 2013 and started working full-time with Bailey and Crystal in the new space. What started as nails and pedicures has evolved into a large repertoire of services that I now offer. While nails are still one of my favourite services to do, I’ve dedicated the last several years to education and performing permanent makeup services and absolutely fallen in love with it. I’ve always been an ambassador for eyebrows (having luckily escaped the overplucked era that was so common in my youth) so being able to help my clients achieve their brow goals is extremely satisfying. After all, working my entire career in the service industry has given me the tools and passion for making my clients feel like family, and leaving happier than they came.

When I’m not here, I’m spending evenings teaching Egyptian dance with DancEgypt Dance co, or at home with my husband, ever-so-sassy daughter and also sassy fur-lings.
